What do I do with the offspring?

I made the mistake of putting males and female guppies in the same 30 gallon tank and now my tank has around 50 guppy fry in it. My LFS said they can't take fish from me and I have no friends that are into fish keeping. What is some good ideas to get rid of them?

The guys at my LFS said it wouldnt be a bad idea to feed the fry to the fish in my 55 gallon but I feel like that's a bit inhumane ...

Drive to some other fish stores that are further away/call and see if they'll take them. You could also ship them. It would basically be like feeding a goldfish to another fish, I don't know how painful it is. I've had the same problem with platies before, and it can be really annoying...

Agreed, I'd call around to other stores. Is there somewhere you can advertise them (equivalent to Craigslist in the US)?

I might go ahead and get rid of your female guppies too, so you don't have to go through this again.

If the fry are super tiny, I might also try to feed some of them off. I'm normally not a fan of feeding live fish, but you bred them, they're tiny, and you're not feeding them as a significant part of your fish's diet.

The fry are big enough so the adults have stopped eating them and I don't really know if my golden gouramis or angels would even bother with trying to eat them as they aren't overly big fish themselves right now. I could advertise them on gumtree which is an Australian sales site but would anyone even want to take guppy fry? They don't have any color showing yet and I don't even know if theyl look appealing when they grow!

Some probably would, you could also post your guppies photos to show the possible parents. You could at least try. I got lucky with an LFS 20 minutes always that takes them. And I had no idea they existed till I did some research, so look into some places near you, it might be worth it.

Yea that's a good idea, because id hate to see all those fry either eaten or die off.
