What do I do with platy fry?

One of my platies gave birth roughly 4 weeks ago. I was able to save one baby and its been in a breeder's box ever since. However, I noticed 3 tiny fry a couple of days ago. Without thinking really, I scooped them up and put them in with the other fry. After thinking about it though, I really don't want the extra fish. I have 3 female platies and a betta, and they're doing really well together. Other than the oldest fry, I don't want to add any more fish to their group. I'm a bit upset because I got 3 female platies so that I wouldn't have to deal with fry. Its been months since I got my first two platies, so I don't know why they are giving birth now! My lfs is always overstocked and busy so I dont think they would want the babies. I also don't know if I have the tank capacity to raise all 4 babies alongside a betta and 3 fully grown platies (I have a 20 gallon). What are my options? Thank you!

Hello! I see you just started, and so did I! :) The reason that your platies are giving birth now is because they are able to store sperm for quite some time. With the fry, you could consider raising some separately, euthanasia, or you can sell them. ---> It's really depends on your preference.

Just let the fry loose in the tank.

Hi!
I would say that if you have a 20 gallon that having a couple more platies wouldn’t be a bad thing. But if you truly don’t want to keep them you can release the fry into the tank and the other fish might eat them. You could try selling them too. Or if you know any other people in the hobby, you could see if they would want them. I really hope this helps!

Thank you guys so much for your advice! I have decided to keep the babies in the breeders box for now and I'm planning on donating them to either my lfs or petco (the petco near me is where I got my orginal platies and they are great at caring for their fish) once they get big enough! Again, thank you so much for helping me out! :)
