What colour type is my betta?

I just bought my second betta Vincent (named because he looks like a Van Gogh painting ;))

My question is, what colour type would he be considered? He's a metallic greeny-blue (depending on the light) with apricot fins, and the green bleeds into his fins too. Is he a mustard gas betta that hasn't finished developing his full colour yet? Or do you think he might turn solid blue/green?

Thanks! I guess I'll have to wait a while and see which way he develops :)

He is absolutely gorgeous! For now, I would say a multi-colored betta, but I am sure that he is going to change.

I've seen a pic of one that looks sort of like him at the Petco site, and it was labeled a mermaid betta. I'm not sure about these labels that sellers put on them, but with his trio of body colors, I would say multi-colored veil tale.

I would love to see pics as he changes! :)

Thanks! I'll post some more pictures when his colour develops.

Wow he does look like the mermaid betta on the Petco site. Except with more yellow in his fins, although there's a bit of pink too. He caught my eye at the pet store because all the other bettas were solid colour, and he was very shimmery and rainbowy in comparison :)

His pic had me picking up my copy of The Betta Bible again to re-read about colors, genetics, and color layers! He really is fascinating!

I hadn't heard of that book, but just had a flick through the sample on Amazon and it looks interesting and well written. I might have to invest in a copy :D

Most books about bettas that I have looked into are really not written for, well, adults, IMO. Or at least, not for people with some experience, I should say. This one is the best that I have found, so far. It's got some great pictures, too.
