I was going to use my aunts 10 gallon tank as a quarantine tank but she just bought minnows. now I have to buy another container as a quarantine tank but I don't which container is safe , can I use any plastic container from walmart, does it have to be a 10 gallon or 20 gallon , And can I quarantine 2 or 3 fantails goldfish together ? I will be using aqua tech for 10-15 gallons from walmart , do I need to buy more bio max since the aqua tech only has a black mesh as a BIO filter, do I need to buy tss also for the quarantine tank? I was thinking of buying the goldies and adding them to the container the same day will that work out?

Where can I buy cheap container/plastic bin?

A five gallon skillet container would work. You can get them at walmart.

If you already have the filter, many times it's just cheaper to go ahead and purchase a bare tank. Walmart has a 10 gallon for $13. Petco unfortunately just finished their $1 per gallon sale

I used sterilite storage box as my quarantine tank, equipped with heater and a sponge filter, and it is now turned into my shrimp "tank"

I have two QT's. One is a 10G glass tank, and the other is a 5 gallon plastic Sterilite container that you can pick up at places like WalMart. I think I got mine at Hobby Lobby for 9 bucks. I really like the Sterilite container because when I'm done with it I can store all of the stuff inside of it (sponge filter, heater, and thermometer), toss the lid on it and stuff it in the closet.

I am now looking at starting a QT tank, as a recent fish purpose wiped out half my guppies (only 3, but still). I cannot tell for sure if it was the new fish or something else that happened, but why chance it when for $10 you can setup a QT tank.Well, I still need a small filter but still.

QT's are the way to go. Look at ten gallon kits -- PetSmart has one for $29.99 that includes tank, filter, hood and light fixture.
