What can I Feed my Goldfish

I have been feeding my goldfish some goldfish flakes for about a year now and just happen to glance at the ingredients on the tub, I couldn't believe that glodfish food really doesn't have much nutritional value to it at all. All I saw was just flour fillers, anyway I've read about people feeding their goldfish peas, but when I tried that they seemed to have a bit of a hard time eating it, I thought that I mashed it up pretty well, but they would eat and then spit it out over and over again. I would like to know what other food they can have that is good for them, cheap, and can eat easily like flakes. Thanks!

Good morning,

I have moved your thread from Goldfish to Freshwater Tank Equipment/Fish Food section of the forum.

Thanks!

JaySee,

How about this, have you used it?

no, I haven't. The base ingredients are the same from what I can remember. Perhaps if I had the goldfish by themselves I would consider it, but since I don't I just feed thera A.

oh wow, Ken, that sounds like some really quality goldie food! How do you think weather loaches would feel about it? Also, sorry if this is an offensive question, but are you the Ken of Ken's Fish?

That said, ELODEA!!! I can't remember what people call it on this forum, but you can usually get it for free from you local high school biology class (they look at a few leaves under a microscope to see good examples of cell wall structure). If not, you can buy bunches of it and just keep it in your tank, where it will both absorb phosphates and nitrogen until it is all eaten by your fish, who will love it. Also, duckweed. They suck that stuff down like nobody's business. If you're looking for something less messy, I feed mine algae wafers, and blood worms, and sinking bottom feeder wafers (idk what they like about them so much, but they go nuts for those things). Also, if you know somebody with extra guppy fry...
