As for me, mine are reading (love to read and walk out of the library with no less then 3 bags of books with several in order(a month worth of books for me), or use their internet app and download at least 10 books a week. Yes I do read them all in a week), Video games (yep I'm a real life old gamer), and doing research on the internet. Oh and tend to my garden and tanks.

I like to carve walking sticks, they are more like staffs though. I carve um all fancy, then sand them, then finish them, sometimes I even add a leather hand grip.

Nature, pets, reading, recently started studying tarot cards-not for fortune telling but as a form of spiritual /psychological exercise. Love learning about symbols and archetypes.

Slack lining and playing with fire toys (poi etc). Also football (the real one not the silly egg-ball game that you guys play in the US)!

Lol. I don't play with demonic things, no time for that noise, also egg ball is lame, just not as lame as soccer. All soccer is lame, except for the Manchester United football team, the greatest foot ball team in all the land.

I'm afraid if I messed with tarrot cards I would likely loose my devine protection. So define try not worth that stuff. The look intresting though.

Spelling is lame

Tarot cards are not demonic? They are a way of looking into ones future. Also, I don't mean to be rude, but I wouldn't call someone's interests 'lame'. Just because you don't like someone's hobbies doesn't mean they're bad. It just means you have different interests. All you have to say is 'its not really my thing' or 'I'm not a fan of it'.

Also may I ask, what is divine protection?

I don't use tarot to predict the future. There are various schools of interpretation, and predicting future is just one of them.
For me, they are more like Rorschach test, where I allow my mind to interpret the symbols and gain insight to a problem in a more creative way than I would on my own. Also, it's not necessary to agree with a symbol, sometimes it shows what is NOT the solution
Also, I forgot to mention that I have quite a few houseplants. And enjoy swimming from time to time, too.

Divine, meaning of a god or higher power. Protection, meaning he doesn't allow me to be damaged to terribly, although he will allow me to get slightly injured and learn my lesson.

I say devine protection because I stopped counting how many times I should have died, but somehow walked away without even a scratch.

Guess you could just say that it's just not in my cards!

Almost anything involving water except for fishing I'm too soft hearted to kill and don't really eat fish so to me it wouldn't be a justified kill

Other than that I read (love stephen king),snowboard, ride quads and yoga/gym

Plus the PNW is home to some beautiful places so I love hiking.

There are some really interesting hobbies on this feed

Automatic Emergency Defibrillator. I wish there was a standard for operating them all but sadly that isn't the case.

Glad for you that someone was trained for it. They have the newer ones that are basically attach and stand back, ours in hs would tell you when the pads were correctly placed and if shock able would do their thing as long as nobody was touching the victim. I have no idea how it knew but it was a sweet little gadget. Luckily I've never been in the presence of one being used.

  • #108
Do they all operate the same way?

Ben9375
  • #109
For the most part, yes. The directions are printed inside the lid, with illustrations. Place the pads as shown and press the green button. The defib will scan and if it determines a shock is needed, meaning there's no heart rhythm, it will tell you to stand clear and push the green button again. I was trained to use one when I was a security guard several years ago. Never imagined one would be used in me. Ours shocked me twice before it was able to detect a heart rhythm again. EMS arrived right after the second shock and took me to the ER. Long story short, I went home nine days later and later had a defib implanted in my chest six weeks later.

Learn CPR, it really does save lives.

I'm glad it was there, to keep you with us. Yes if been CPR certified almost 25 years now. Only had to use it once, for my 80 year old uncle. This September he'll be 86.

Totally agree with this I think everyone should know basic cpr/aed use. You never know when it will come in handy.

Completely random, but I also find it very useful to learn a few key phrases from the more common languages in your area. I learned ASL but need practice, even learning just the alphabet in ASL could come in handy. And I'm working on getting some key Spanish phrases and responses down because it's very common in my area!

It's random but these things can go hand in hand depending on what situation you are responding to, to ask of you can help or what's wrong etc.

My daughter was taught asl in her daycare. I can not express how helpful it is for a baby to be able to communicate basic things.

That's so awesome!! Research suggests it can even help reduce tantrums because often times they're caused by frustration of not being able to communicate what is wanted or being felt. Instead of the guessing game of "why are you crying" they can just sign "hungry" "hot" "more" etc

Exactly. Most people are shocked that a 1yr old can tell you something in sign language. They don't continue it for toddlers to encourage speech but overall I'm pretty impressed with the childcare, especially considering the price.
