What Are The Blue Arrows

Hi! I have been on the forum for nearly a year now and I have never got the purpose of the blue arrows in the unanswered questions. They say redirect but why the the threads that have been answered stay on the unanswered place. I don't really get that, I just don't see a need for them to stay. If you know why they stay please let me know. Thanks

 

It means the mods moved the thread to a more appropriate sub forum. I am not sure why it stays in unanswered threads though. Because they are typically answered.

Ya, that's why I said I am not sure why they stay in the unanswered thread area. I guess the original post was technically not answered since it was a thread that was moved? Does it end up looking like two threads to the system or something?

 

Eventually they go away but it takes a long time.

I think it's because they were posted twice. A lot of times when people post two threads and then the mods merge them it shows up as a blue arrow. If they're unanswered, they will both still appear there but one will have a blue arrow (because that's the one that was merged) and the other won't.

 

Eventually they go away but it takes a long time.

I'm pretty sure it depends on when the re-directs expire. Most times we'll set it for one day. Some circumstances have us setting it longer.
