What Are The Best Ferts

Just wondering what are some of the best ferts (root tabs, liquid ferts and soils)

Soil - The general consensus is ADA Aquasoil. After that it's probably Tropica aquarium soil.

Ferts depend on your lighting and plant demands. If you have a big tank with moderate to heavy planting, the cheapest and most comprehensive way to dose is to mix your own fertilizer dry, each compound in its solid form, and then dissolve it into water. If your tank is smaller a liquid fertilizer will do. In my opinion it is better to dose more rather than less (this is called the EI method), because then you don't have to worry about your plants developing a nutrient deficiency. Nilocg Thrive is my top choice for an EI liquid fertilizer. Nilocg root tabs for root tabs. Some people do DIY root tabs with osmocote.

I second using Nilocg Thrive fertilizer. It's the closest thing to a true all in one fertilizer for your tank. I've had great results using that, diy osmocote root tabs and seachem flourite sand substrate.
