10 Gallon Tank What are some good foreground plants (Low tech)

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has any recommendations for foreground plants (preferable under 5 inches) in a low tech tank. My substrate is eco-complete, and I dose Seachem Flourish on Sundays, and Easy Green on Wednesday so I can have both macro and micro nutrients (since my bioload is very light). I don't have co2, but I can dose Seachem Excel if it will help my plants. I have tried dwarf sagittaria, but it isn't doing to well, and it is growing on big plant instead of many little ones. I am open to carpeting plants, mosses, or stem plants, just nothing too tall.

Thanks

I tried dwarf sagittaria and didn’t have much luck, so I looked for a new plant and I’m going to try some dwarf chain swords and hopefully have better luck

+1 for Dwarf hairgrass ! Really easy carpeting plant once it gets started. The Pygmy chain swords also look good, if you can keep them alive, but out of all of mine I would say only 1 bunch has new growth and the rest are either dying or dead.

In my tank pearlweed grows the fastest and is pretty easy to take care of. I’ve had dwarf hairgrass for a few days and it’s going okay, but it can be hard to make it stay in the substrate (I use sand). Hydroctyle japan also grows pretty fast and looks like clovers.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions! I am leaning towards dwarf hairgrass, pearlweed (but I'd be concerned about it turning leggy instead of a desired carpet) and Hydroctyle japan. I think they all could work with my tank. My question is: can these plants work well in coarse gravel? I've heard that DH has trouble. Any other thoughts or tips for growing any of these plants?

plants will have a harder time sending out runners in gravel but it should be fine. To make the pearlweed and hairgrass spread runners horizontally cut the tallest plants and for pearlweed since it’s a stem plant replant the tops you cut off.

My only experience with dwarf hairgrass was in bare gravel no ferts in my first planted betta tank. It carpeted well enough. Idk how it managed though.
