What A Steal! New 55 Gallon

Today, I decided to upgrade my 29 gallon, which has my leopoldI angelfish pair, to a 55 gallon aquarium. I also remembered that Petco is having their dollar-per-gallon. After hearing the news, I decided to go to Petco and hopefully get at least a 55 gallon aquarium. While I was at Petco, I remembered something. My uncle has a large, unused aquarium in his backyard. I decided to call my uncle about the tank and he said that he has it! So, I decided to come over to his house and see it for myself. Lo and behold, there it is, the aquarium itself. He told me that the tank is about 100 gallon, which is 10x better than a 55 and a 29 gallon! But this isn't best part. The best part was that he was giving me the tank, stand, and filter for free! I was extremely happy about it, getting a free 100 gallon aquarium with a stand and filter! My uncle also said that he'll clean it up for me and test to see if there's any leakage (hopefully, there isn't). I am extremely grateful about it! All I need now is a heater.

Thank you! This beats the Petco dollar-per-gallon sale lol! I'm hoping to get this tank by this weekend, but for the meantime, my angels will stay in their 29 for now until I got it setup and cycled. Not only that, but I'm planning on doing a wild angelfish tank.

Especially wild. Imo, wild angels are way prettier than domestic ones.

WOW! What a lucky day for you and your angels. Looking forward to hearing about the journey.

That's really great. I find most of my tanks on craigslist or Facebook marketplace for a low price. Last year I found a 75 gallon on the curb for free. A few weeks later I found a 38 gallon on the curb. Both were dirty snd needed a good cleaning. The 38 gallon also had a broken cross bar. Cleaning and repairing is easy enough. Both hold water fine. Now I have two great looking tanks that just took a little time and effort, but NO money.

UPDATE:

Unfortunately, I won't be receiving my tank this weekend as my uncle is extremely busy, but that doesn't mean that I won't be getting it. I'll probably get it by late July or August if my uncle gives me a call and says that it's ready. In the meantime, let's just be patient and wait for the arrival of my new 100 gallon.

It's been a while, but I'm getting it today! Pics will be up in a while.

As promised, here's a pic of my tank. Mine might be a 90, but that doesn't matter since it's a large aquarium.

Here's the tank after a paint job.

In case you're wondering what filtration I'll be running, it's a Rena Filstar XP4. Filter contains sponge, ceramic media, Eheim Subtrat Pro, and lava rocks.

Making some progress.

I would be jealous if any of my family members keeps my dream fish! Fortunately, they don't, at least not yet.

I don't have my leopoldI angels anymore. I decided to rehome my pair as they were constantly fighting. Also, I really want to get some altum angels and I don't want to risk housing both leopoldI and altum angels together.

Also, why does the thread say "New 55 Gallon?" It's not a 55, but a 90.

Idk, the 55 gallon part showed up later? Hope you find what you're looking for. I think my tablet auto-corrected LeopoldI btw!

I think so, if you don't read carefully/thouroughly, 55 gallon is mentioned a lot. I think "what a steal" might have looked too criminal lol. Kinda sad how careful we have to be now!

Not guilty but it was likely edited so it reflects the topic of the thread better, we often edit titles to reflect the question asked.

Ah, okay. Thanks for the pointer!

It also helps people when searching to get more relevant results if the title gives more of a clue of what the thread is about.

Also I think a mod needs to change the title to New 90g Gallon, because I forgot it was actually a 90g and thought you had 7 altums in a 55g.

It took a long time for me to glue all of them plants.

My tank is 4'x1'x2' (L x W x H). So it's around 90 gallons.
