baby cory stuck
HI all, I'm new, and really needing help from anyone really..
This morning I decided to clean my filter out, like I always do... the water in my 30 gallon was a bit cloudy because I have been busy and haven't been able to clean it lately.
I have a canister filter with 4 parts to it. Sponge on the bottom, then Charchol then little black balls, and a polishing pad on top...
SOME HOW 2 baby catfish eggs got sucked up (I am assuming) into the filter and decided to stay there.
My 30 gallon adults breaded about 2 months ago, and I have been raising the babies in a 10 gallon tank seperately until they are big enough for the 30g...
As I said I have not been able to clean the filter until now.
To my surprise As I was opening the filter and rinsing out the parts, a catfish came swimming out and almost went down the drain! I quickly put him into the 10g... then I went back started to clean it more carefully... Only to find a half size pinky... catfish stuck in the charcol bag STILL ALIVE!!!!!
I don't know what to do.. I had both of them in the 10 gallon with the smaller guys but he keeps going on his side because his side fins are hard as a rock... he doesn't have a lot of fin on him, and I'm afraid he won't live even after my desperate attempt to save him.
What can I do?? Should I try to treat him with Melafix? Something that will regenerate his fins to help him move? He cannot swim to the top and actually swims in my hand so I can raise him to the top and he takes a big gulp. I have been doing that every hour... I feel so bad...and guilty.. But normally my corys eat all the eggs and I never think twice any would have gone through my filter...
Please someone help
