Went Shopping Today!

I took today to myself and went fish shopping.

I came home with 5 rainbow cichlids, 5 blue acara, 5 angelfish, 5 salvini, 6 rainbow wag platies, 5 jewel cichlids, a pair of convicts, a pleco, a betta, and three red-eye tetras.

For those who don't know, I have 27 tanks and everyone will be in a species tank except for the pleco and the tetras.

Would've come home with scarlet badis, but they were out.

Awesome! I read that before finishing and said "oh my goodness someone ought to tell her not to put so many fish in at once!" Then realized the 27 tanks. I love the look of convicts.

Not much. They are from Petsmart, so now that they are in a proper tank, they will be able to color up. That's the goal anyways.

ROFL! I went to 5 different stores. The first store is a sponsor of our local aquarium club. They always have good stuff! I am so glad I brought 2 coolers with me so the finned kids wouldn't get overheated while I was shopping.

All stores asked what size tank I had. I was pleasantly surprised. I let them know the number of tanks I had and what fish were going in what size tanks.

Here are a few pics. The angels are a bit stressed. They are the striped (what I call altums) and leopards.

The rainbows are also stressed.

Once everyone is comfortable, I will get pics of them all, but it will be a few days.

I have some molly fry going and hopefully will have convict fry within a month. Right now, I also have freeze-dried blackworms, daphnia, frozen bloodworms, all kinds of stuff.

Looks like the cons have settled in. The male is chasing the female. Guess we'll know in a few days if they will be a pair or if one of them get killed. I have REALLY missed these fish! Haven't had cons in 2 years and they were the first species that bred for me. Taught me a lot about cichlid breeding behavior.

I can't imagine having 27 tanks... you must be doing water changes all day! That must have been fun to get so many fish.

I can get all tanks done in about 8 1/2 hours. Working on getting another drain hose since that takes the longest amount of time. Refilling is fairly quick.

I bought a red dragon betta with black edging on his tail. May be fin rot, may be his natural coloring. We'll know for sure within a few weeks.

LOL! Me, too! He's #4 in the house currently. Tried to take pics of him earlier, but he turned around in typical betta fashion so I couldn't get a good pic of him.

If it was up to me, I'd have a small menagerie of bettas ;D However my boyfriend does not share quite the same love for them that I have, but I still have a halfmoon, Archimedes, who sits on my desk and watches me work. Once we move to a larger place though, there will be more bettas, mark my words...

LOL I don't need an entire room, but I think a nice long tank, divided in thirds or quarters maybe.. My boyfriend would rather have a couple big tanks than a million little tanks.. I say, why not some big tanks AND a few little tanks?
