Question: Wen on oranda goldfish

It is said wen on the orange start showing after 2-3 years of age whether those are red cap or some other.

But I have 2-3 inch red cap oranda which have proper wen is grown.. So those are 2-3 years old goldfish. If yes, then they grow so slowly that takes 6-7 years for full size oranda in proper size aquarium.

Size of wen depends on the individual fish. There are goldfish food that say they promote wen growth, but it has to be in the genes to begin with. Some fish's wen keep growing and needs to be trimmed!

They don't feel pain when wen is trimmed?

If an Oranda's Wen must be trimmed I highly suggest it be done by a professional/veterinary personnel. See the link below:
