Weird smelling orange film?

I have a recurring issue with a 10 gallon tank I originally used as a Betta tank and now use as a quarantine tank.

Super strong smelling, fast growing orange slime. It grows only on my suction cups and airlines. The smell is hard to describe. Sort of a strong herby smell? With something like menthol in the background. It's offensively strong.

It's not in my other tank, but the water conditions are the same. This tank has been torn down and everything in it replaced twice in under 6 months. This persists. Pictures of what it looks like wiped off included.

Any ideas?

Possibly? I've never known my shower curtain to smell anything like this stuff though.

It may just be a build up off fish food. Do you feed your fish with flakes?

 

No flakes currently. Quarantining 3 new Corydoras for about 2 weeks now. They are eating mostly HikarI sinking wafers.

There were 6 Neon Tetras in there previously eating flakes. The Betta before that ate pellets mostly. The orange stuff has been the same through all this.

Orange algae maybe?
