Weird airline discoloration

this happens with my airline after a while: it starts to become tinted chartreuse like algae at the output ports of my air pump and and gradually skips past the check valve to the next segment of airline and that starts to tint as well. Does anyone know what this is? Is it the air in my room or the pump that does this? I'm at a loss I change the line when this happens and today I took apart my air pump and cleaned the filter I doubt that will help but I would be interested to find out if anyone knows anything about this strange occurrence.

 

My tubing gets a bit discolored too, but it's not usually that stark of a change. I wouldn't worry about it as long as the tubing isn't becoming brittle.

 

Yeah I waited a bit longer to change the line this time because I was running out but the line remains squishy and pliable so at least that's not an issue

No, it was only a thought I know that can stain almost anything, the air pump doesn't get hot? Unfortunately I wouldn't know if this happened to mine, the tubings black it could be worse??? Wondering now how often it needs changing . . .

 

Yes the motor/magnets do get pretty hot when I took the pump apart they were quite toasty ugh it's a mystery

 

When plastic gets warm it can discolour a bit like plastic in the sun.

 

Its just the tubing breaking down over time it changes color, bets brittle and eventually cracks. I use the black silicone tubing and it takes a lot longer to do this. I haven't replaced my black tubing in over a year. It tends to get harder than original but airlines do tend to do that. In my experience the blue and black silicone tubing lasts much longer.
