Weights on plants, please advise!

Hello all, I recently picked up some Jungle Val as recommended by some members here, and I noticed that they have weights attached to the bottom of them. It would seem like some sort of metal by weight but it's very flexible and able to be shaped around the plants to keep them from floating.

I'd like to know if someone else had a definite answer on what this was made of? I obviously do not want metal in my tank for any length of time, but I'm not positive if this is indeed metal or something that is aquarium safe.

Any help is appreciated! Thank you.

P.s If it helps the plants came from petsmart.

I had the same question awhile back, and never actually found out what the metal was made of. What I did was remove the metal from the bottom and then attached a rock to the bottom using an elastic band in order to hold the plants down.

It doesn't exactly answer your question, but hopefully it will help a bit!

Good afternoon,

Sounds like plant anchors:

What is wrapped around your plants is probably the same and is aquarium safe. However, they should be removed from the plant before planting.

Soft Lead.
