Weeks old driftwood has green spots…???

After a few weeks of a piece of driftwood being in my cycled tank, I had to remove it for a few days. I put it in a bucket with water (water that had been treated with dechlor) for a cup days. Then I removed it and let it dry out. That’s when I noticed a few tiny areas of flat, mint green color on the driftwood. They are completely flat and literally the color of green mint chip ice cream. Anyone know what this is or if it’s something to worry about? Sorry, can’t get a picture right now.

Sounds like green spot algae.

Should I try to scrape it off? Get rid of this piece? Or something else? I’m a newbie.

If it's green spot algae (GSA), I wouldn't worry about it. It won't hurt anything.

Algaes going to grow on it in the tank anyway. Was this driftwood something you bought or found?

Thanks for the replies! It is one I bought that’s specifically processed for aquariums. It’s a great size piece for my 10g so I’m glad I can keep it.

This is what happens when nature takes over specifically by human processed stuff.
