Waterfall For My Weird Betta

My weird betta Tritan likes having water poured over him. I discovered this when replenishing his tank water. I usually try to pour over his log so he doesn't accidentally get hit with the water current. But he had made his bubble nest around his log and, not wanting to destroy his nest (again), I poured the water on another side- away from Tritan. Lo and behold, he comes to investigate, and every time I pull the water away, he follows. So, I let the water pour over him, and he looks as happy and wiggly as can be. I've done his last few water replenishments this way, and he really seems to enjoy the water current for whatever reason.

So, I'm thinking I should get him a waterfall for his tank. I've seen filters that produce the waterfall effect and was wondering if anyone had experience in this area. Also, he currently has an aquaponic set up with a peace lily, and I think it works well and looks good, so I definitely want to keep the plant.

Here is an aquaponic waterfall filter I found on amazon, that I think would fit nicely in my 2.5 gallon tank.

Thoughts? Any other ideas that Tritan might like?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Most bettas i’ve had like to swim up the current from the filters. That’s probably why he does that, along with he doesn’t have much room to go anywhere else. I don’t see harm in trying it out.

Well it kinda makes sense. Bettas jump upstream in their little creeks/rice paddies. You can try it but be careful of the flow and the intake because he is a long fin betta so he will get more tired of the current and can get his fins stuck inside the filter intake.

You can try getting an Elive betta sponge filter instead to create bubbles.

If he's weird then so is my Benny. He also likes swimming in and through the new water pouring in. I recently had to float a bag of ice in my tank a few times to keep the temp below 86. Benny would stare at the ice through the bag and when a piece broke off and moved, he started nipping at the bag like he wanted to eat it.
