Good morning. Does anyone know if my water wisteria will grow new leaves lower on the stem, or am I better off to snip that off and re root farther up the stem? If so, I may just let the float for now while they grow roots? They already had some roots when they came in the mail so I just planted them but now I am wondering if I should have done things differently.

Here they are... 2 stems of it are already floating in a pitcher of tank water without roots. Also do they grow roots better while floating or should I shove them into the substrate to grow roots?Good morning.
