Water Ticks?!

I don't know what these are, low key kinda worried.
No way I can get a pic, they're way too small, maybe a millimeter long, thinner than that. Basically a grain of sand.
They are orange in color, have long antennae, walk and hop on the surface tension and honestly resemble ticks.
I know the description is rather vague, but hopefully someone knows what I'm talking about.
They hop when startled, such as when I shine a light, so maybe they don't like light. Almost daphnia shaped, kinda more like a small bean squished on one end, idk

Hmm, I haven't heard of bugs like that before with aquariums! Are they swimming at all? or just hopping on the surface? The only things I can think of are lake bugs or water strider nymphs.

Thanks for replying so fast!
They have the same coloring and most of the same body shape as the first ones, but I can't see their legs at all...
They're not in an aquarium, per se, I guess, just a snail bowl, no water movement.
They don't go below the water suface, just walk and jump on top. They only seem to jump when startled.

No problem! if there isn't any water movement I would be concerned about mosquito larvae, but if they look like the first picture that likely isn't what they are. Is there any chance you or the water came in contact with a lake or pond before hand? I wouldn't be too worried if they aren't swimming, I would just do a small 10%-15% water change every day or two to get rid of them, make sure you take the water off the surface to hopefully scoop them out, the less they can breed (if they aren't larvae) the better!

Okay thanks! I don't think it came in any contact with lake/pond water, but it did have some contact with some new plants I ordered...

I don't think so, springtails are larger and more elongated than these
