I was going to get this plant but as the title states it's now illegal to have it, sell it or otherwise distribute it in EU area.
Any other nice looking floaters?
Post pictures if you have nice floaters =)

I have red roots and amazon frogbits myself, used to have salvinia auriculata but it got eaten. my frogbits are almost suffering the same fate

Added to the EU invasive list in 19.5.2022 but was given extended transition period so you could still have them as the list is not official legislation yet. I don't have any non-finnish source to give you.. Atleast I couldn't find any with quick search.

EU:n vieraslajiluetteloon lisättiin uusia lajeja - Maa- ja metsätalousministeriö (news regarding added species to EU list, in finnish)
https://vieraslajit.fi/info/i-4340 (list of the extended species, in finnish)

These are from the Ministry of agriculture and forests of Finland official website

It looks to me as if it will be a while until this is finalized. But thanks for the heads-up.

That's UK specific.

That's UK specific.
I probably should of specified that too !

it’s usually one of those things that tend to start in one country and the others take stock and follow suit eventually. Usually with good reason .

It is way too cold here for pistia and some others on the list to survive over winters here in the north but we still follow the EU legislations like law here :D

Sorry for the late reply I didn’t get a notification. Thankfully yes. I’ll admit I’m ignorant by choice lately with the whole brexit thing and if it’ll affect how we do things in regards to E.U regulations. Hopefully not .
i wonder if Boris could bore invasive species to death …
