HI everyone

What kind of water filter would you suggest for a 36 gallon bow front aquarim? Also should I buy one that is higher than a 36 gallon aquarium?

If you have many fish, you could get one larger than needed. There is no such thing as over-filtering unless the fish are being whipped in circles.

I love the SunSun canisters. I have a HW-302 on my 40 gallon and it does an amazing job. Would provide a bit of over-filtration for your 36 gallon (they are rated up to 75g, although that's pushing it). They are super quiet, tons of media space/options, and best of all super cheap. Someone said they are selling for around $30 on ebay right now, including shipping right to your door. Another $10-15 on some media and you have an awesome filter that could even go on a bigger future tank, all for under $50.

I recommend getting a couple of the filter pad combo sets on ebay or amazon for around $6, they include 1 blue coarse sponge, and 3 white fine polishing pad. Also get a 1 liter container of Seachem Matrix and you are good to go.
