Water Cloudy After Adding In New Fish

Hi! So 2 days ago I added in 3 new guppies to my 5.5 gallon tank which already had 1 guppy in it. My toddler nephew decided it would be a good idea to "pet the fishies" and ended up killing my other guppies. Anyways, the morning after adding in the new fish, I noticed that the water was a bit cloudy. I waited until the afternoon to see if it would go away, but it didn't, so I did a 25% water change in hopes that it would help clear up the cloudiness. Unfortunately, it's a day later and it did nothing I have a Rosette Sword and an Amazon Sword in there and some algae growing on the substrate. I'm not sure if that's relevant or important, but I just wanted to tell you in case it is. If anyone could offer some input as to why the water is cloudy and/or suggest any remedies, that would be superb! Thanks.

Do you have anyway to test the water for ammonia, nitrites, nitrates, etc? How long has the tank been running?

It could be a bacteria bloom due to the new stock

I do not, but if the cloudiness continues then I will get it tested on Thursday or Friday. My tank has been running for about 5 months. I got a new canister filter (ZooMed Nano Filter 10) and switched from gravel to sand substrate about a month ago though.

Ok thanks. Do you happen to know how long the cloudiness will persist?
