Water changes with distilled or treated tap?

Hey guys so I always have done my top offs/water changes with distilled water bought at the store, why haven't I just done it with tap water using water conditioner? Is there a reason I've always done it this way or am I just being stupid?

Distilled water isn't good for water changes as it doesn't contain the minerals fish need. It's fine for top offs, but I would switch to treated tap water.

Thanks, idk why I've used it for so long when I literally own water conditioner, it only just now occurred to me that treats tap would be a much cheaper option

Exactly, and 98¢ a gallon isn't much but I'm a broke college kid struggling to get a job with 2 tanks, 98¢ adds up quick.
