I did a 20% water change on my 25 gallon tank, and my fish are really stressed out. They usually calm down after a bit. It's been 3 hrs now that they are going nuts. I'm using a different brand of chemicals. Usually I use the fluval brand but I switched to the brand called Prime. Is this normal behavior when switching between the two brands of chemicals. I just had to put a blanket over the tank. Please help me I don't want my fish to suffer.

What are your water parameters? Did you rinse any media or clean out filters?

I always rinse the filter media in old aquarium water. The last time I checked the water parameters it was fine. That was 2 days ago after I added new fish.

Check it again, the new fish will change the overall bioload on the filter.

Are you sure they are stressed out? Maybe they are just really enjoying the water change.

They've settled down. They are back to normal now.
