Wassup Guys, Trouble

Ok so I have 3 platies, 2 female 1 male. 2 rams. So my platies are being bully’s to my red female. Before it was only the male chasing after her and harassing her. Now when she gets closer to the other female she chases her as well. I love my red platy but she’s being harassed by both! Why is that? And my male ram tried to chase my smaller female too, it’s too much going on for me and I don’t like it

Is your tank big enough? What size is it?

I wouldn't recommend rams in a 10 gallon

You can do one male and female pair of Rams in a 10 gallon, but nothing else.

I would get rid of your rams, two isn’t a good idea in a ten gallon. As for the platies, I want to say that the male is picking favorites and the other female is the dominant one. So this female is getting bullied. You may want to rethink your stocking plan, because I honestly feel like 10 gallons isn’t enough for platies seeing as how quickly they breed.

I just took out the male, now it seems like the 2 females are ok, even with the Rams

What is the temperature of the tank? What type of rams are they? I'm curious because there's quite a large temperature compatibility gap between the two species. This could cause the platies to be hyperactive.

The temp is at 82. And 1 electric blue male. 1 German blue female, which is a lot smaller

Great thought! 82°F is too warm for platies!

You should get a bigger tank, rams IMO need at least 15gals for 1, 20 for 2, and the platys love to breed, so they'll be multiplying like crazy. Thoughts BottomDweller ?

10 gallons is doable for breeding in a 10 gallon with a single pair of rams (I've seen it working well), but it really cutting it close IMO. The tank would have to be set up well with good filtering. I much prefer a minimum of 20 gallons space for a pair of rams. IME the male relentlessly chases the female when she is not laying eggs. I have better luck with 3 females, 1 male in a much larger tank (like 50+ gallons).

I was never able to comfortably keep platys with docile SA cichlids 1) because they like cooler temps 2) because they are too innocent and friendly to get out of the cichlid's way.

Oh heard. I live in a apartment, I don’t have much room to spare. I added more plants to give cover and the male ram gives the female some rest, only when she enters his cave
