Was my guppy jsut resting, or is something wrong? :-\

I put the light out my tank at 8:15 every night. Tonight I put it out the same time and went downstairs. I went back up to check on them about 1 hour later and one of my guppies, Spike Lee, was just sitting at the bottom of the tank. They are usually still swimming around until about 10ish when they start to calm down a little and rest, but Spike Lee was just on the bottom while the others were still swimming around.  :-\ I got worried and tapped the side of the tank, but he didn't move, so I opened the lid to see if he was OK. As soon as I did this he started swimming around again, so I calmed down a little. I tested the tank and everything is normal.

Ammonia - 0, NitrAte - 10, NitrIte - 0, PH - 7.0.

I just thought I'd ask just to be safe, do you think he was just resting, or do you think I should be worried?

Oh ye, I just remembered. Earlier today, I was sat next to the tank reading, and I heard a splash in the tank so I looked over and Spike Lee was going Mad on the surface, making the water splash a little. I've never seen a fish do this before and wondered what he was doing.  ??? after about 2 minutes he calmed down a little and started swimming with the others again, then I noticed a little red dot on the edge of his tail. Could one of the others have nipped him?  ??? :-\

Also, do you think these two things are connected or not?

Thanks everyone. I will keep a close eye on him tonight until I go to bed. I hope he is OK.  :-\

He seems fine this morning, and nothing seems wrong. Maybe he was just resting. :-\

When the lights go out guppies usually settle to the bottom to sleep.
When I get up in the morning I turn my room lights on for about 15 minutes before I turn the tank lights on and its cool to watch them lazily rise out of the plants and up to the surface to start looking for food before the tank lights are turned on.

OK. The guppies are usually already swimming around when I wake up, but maybe that will change as I will have to get up earlier when school starts back in September.

Thanks Carol. I'll know what they are doing next time I see this, and won't get so worried. Thanks again.

I'm glad there was nothing wrong. After Mac dieing, I got worried, but now I think I'm starting to stop worring so much. I've had them for nearly a week now. ;D
