Wanting to make a tank divider.

I putting together a ~15 gal tank for my daughter over the next few weeks/month. She really loves Betta fish, and I was thinking of dividing the tank into 3 ~5 gal tanks so that she can have 3 Betta rather than just one. I don't want to have to run multiple filters so I was trying to come up with the best way to divide the tank, and still have good water flow. So I thought to myself who better to ask than the wonderful people here at FL.

Is this a 15 gallon high with a footprint of 20x10, or a 15 gallon long with a footprint of 24x12? The 24 inch tank is better suited to bettas, so I was just curious. A 15 gallon high divided would leave the bettas very little swimming space.

when I get home I will re measure it, if it is the narrower of the two would it then be better to divide in half?

as in length half?... that would be a bad idea as dividers for bettas should not be clear, UNLESS you set it somewhere where it could be seen from both sides(not against a wall) so you can walk from one side.. and then when you get to other side there's another betta surprise!!

Yes, IMO that would be better. The 2 foot tank could easily accommodate 3 bettas, but the 15 gallon high has the same footprint as a 10 gallon and they would be cramped with more than 2 even though the volume is the same as the 24" tank.
