What kind of pond do you want? Inground above ground? Preformed or liner.. what is the pond for?

I would like something I can move to my basement during the winter so preferably plastic liner and it’s for my Red Tail Catfish

Any pond properly big enough for a red tail catfish will not be movable.

I am not aware of how many gallons a red tail catfish needs.. but you could do a Rubbermaid or similar type cattle trough.. if you have a big enough door to get in inside over winter!!!

We have a double door so it would fit and that’s a very good idea. I would just have to find a big cattle trough tho!

I have seen them here in the US up to around 3000 gallons!!! Do you have a filter in mind??

Hmmm, it says they need a minimum of 1000 gallons, and unfortunately aren't very cold-hardy although they CAN live outdoors year-round in the Southern US.

... So, as I see it, you have 2 options. Building an indoor "pond" like the King of DIY's 2000g cement pond:

OR building an in-ground outdoor pond that you can put a thermal blanket or even a greenhouse over, and hope for the best over the winter. Because moving 1000g in for the winter...probably isn't happening. (just my two cents Someone else may have worked it out )

Joey, king of DIY also has a video on making a plywood pond. That's the video you need to watch and build. Fairly easy. Permanent outdoor if you can make it partially underground so it gets below the frost line.

You need 1000 gallons at least. But if it's still small maybe you build half that and then build a bigger one later, tho I'm sure catfish grow fast if you feed well so you may as well start with 1000g.

And your next post will be how to filter it lol.

1000g can certainly work if you make it a shallow/wide pond, which offers a lot of surface area for the RTC to swim around in.
