Want A Flowerhorn. Advise?

Will a 60 gallon be enough to keep a flowerhorn in for its entire life? If I get a flowerhorn I’ll have it bare bottom with no decor. Absolutely empty so I can have them interact with me more. How much do they usually cost to feed daily? Are all flowerhorns roughly the same size when they’re full adults? I know size varies a bit but what is the minimum to expect? I don’t have any idea what kind I will get or what is available in my area but was looking for a large bright interactive one to live alone. Thanks everyone

IMHO a tiled tank would look better and it's about the same as a bare bottom but that's just me.

I think there are about 12 different combinations that are classified as flowerhorns. Some are short bodied others are long bodies. A 60 will limit you on the type you get so do your homework on what's available to you.

Does anyone know what type the YouTuber “king of DIY” has? It’s very large and I guess what’s considered a large body.

He has a red dragon. Short body flowerhorns are very distinct, you'll know when you see one.
This is my bonsaI flowerhorn, they generally only need 29/30 gallon tanks.

Beautiful bonsai. Recommend a breeder/supplier for the short bodies?

Thank you, I'm very fond of her. I got her from a guy that imported from Thailand. Not sure the original source.

Somewhat disappointed that the source is unknown, but thanks for responding. Any specific descriptive traits that you could give me while I search for one similar to her I.e. lineage, color , etc. Would be greatly appreciated. I find her spectacular, and have a 29 gallon ready for a new baby!

She's a fader, so when they are babies, they are black and somewhat ugly. She is the most expensive fish I've owned. I found a few pictures of very similar fish 0n google by searching for bosnaI fader flowerhorn. I don't know much about lineage, but supposedly the ThaI breeder specialized in breeding bonsaI faders.

I've heard of faders, but never see one in person. How old is she now? How old was she when she began fading?

She was already faded when I got her. I've had her about 8 or 9 months. I do know the fader gene is a recessive trait that originates form Midas / Red devils. I also think it's closely linked to the gold base gene which my FH has. They start off mostly black and slowly fade to their gold/pink color. The black can come and go throughout their lives.

I thank you for responding and giving me this information. I will definitely research them and see where I may can find one.
