Wal-mart Rescue

I was at Wal-mart the other day picking up a few things and always inevitably end up in the fish section. At first, I was happy to see that they only had fifteen bettas or so, but then I noticed a rubbermaid tub on the floor filled with betta cups, half of them tilted over in some way or another. I went over and my friend and I tried to arrange them as best we could so that the air holes were uncovered, two bettas had so little water because it had spilled out that they were barely covered by it. One of them my friend just fell in love with and told me that if I would take care of him she'd buy everything for him. Thus, I've ended up with my 5th betta (three boys, two girls). The poor guy looks like he's been in a few fights, his tail is torn to bits, but if it grows back the same color as the tail that's left he'll be gorgeous. At any rate, I'll try to get some pictures of him while he waits in a 2gal for his 5 gal to cycle. I should have some before and after pics of my other wal-mart rescue up soon too!

Can't wait for the pics! You would think someone who takes in fish in their store would at least give them water . . . so SAD. Hunt 'em down!

Sounds similar to what happened to me, I saw a Betta with little space and poor health so I brought him home to find he had ripped fins and and nasty scars on the base of his tail. Hes now in his own 5 Gallon and he swimming away happily!
I wish the best for your new friend!

Heres to our Bettas growing healthy and repairing well
