Vorticella in my new shrimp tank :(

Hi! I’m new here, and am having what appears to be vorticella in my tank.

My tank is only about 2 months old, and already I have atleast 40 babies! Parameters are good, no deaths. I had the tank for about a year with a betta, and when he passed, I decided to begin a Cherry shrimp tank.

I don’t know how to treat the Vorticella. I have over 50 shrimp in my 10 gallon, most of which are babies, and I’m terrified of killing them. I’m at a loss and could use some help from more experienced shrimp keepers.

thanks!!

How have you determined its vorticella thats the issue?

Based on the picture (With live plants and best case scenario) it maybe pond snail eggs.

If the shrimp are making babies you are doing something right and may want to let it go.

To be honest there is little that has been done in the way of shrimp sickness, as most fish sickness does not affect shrimp.

There's no signs of vorticella on the shrimp or the plants so have to agree with Mickey11235

Thank you! There are some on the shrimp, but they don’t seem to be sticking. One day there will be on the nose of one, and then the next day gone.
If you guys are saying to leave it, I will, but I thought it better to ask early, before it becomes a real issue.
I’ll continue with water changes and hope for the best. Thanks!

Maybe change feeding routine to avoid small particles that could be helping feed them for a while.

If your sure it's on shrimp can you give us a closeup photo,
Vorticella is also water related so posting full perameters will also help,
GH,PH,KH, Nitrite, Nitrate
You also say it come one day on the rostrum then goes so there again I'd say no to Vorticella but more likely go towards scutariella Japonica
Vorticella should be carpeting the shrimp as well as plants and there's no evidence of that

Hi!

here’s what I found on my plants. Any ideas what it is and how to get rid of it?

I was thinking about removing this plant and dipping it in Aquarium Salt, similar to what I see people recommending for shrimp treatment. thoughts?

thank you!!
PS I have 5 adults and counted around 20-25 babies. Tank is 10 gallon with java moss, anubias, and other plants. 1 accent driftwood, and some Indian Almond leaves. Sponge filter.

Parameters:

temp: 72-74
PH: 7.2
Ammonia: 0
Nitrites: 0
Nitrates: 0
GH: 7
KH: 3

diet: blanched Kale 2x per week, 3-5 Hikari shrimp pellets 1x per week, shrimp treat stick (bee pollen) 1x per week. I remove any uneaten food after 4-6 hours.

been using a turkey baster to remove shrimp waste and water at 10-15% weekly.

Thanks for the help!

That dose look like vorticella you can use
potassium permanganate to get rid of it but i don't know the dose
It only becomes deadly to shrimp when its on their body and dies off its the died bits that clog up the gills and kills them other than the its pretty safe

Any idea how to treat the entire tank? What is potassium permanganate? Is there a link to where I can purchase it?

Let me know how you get on, the information you supply will be good for anyone in the same position
Hope it goes well for you
You could always put the plants in aquarium water in a jar and add potassium permanganate until the colour is right and see what happens

You think I could just put the affected plants in water w table salt for 30-60 seconds?
