Volitan lionfish tank size needs

My husband and I just moved into our house and are looking to get a lionfish. This would be our first saltwater tank so we definitely don't want to try to go as small as possible since I read lionfish need strong filtration. I'm confused on the tank size needs as I see different answers. My LFS says 75 gallons, fishlore says 55 (that sounds really small for a 12 inch fishhttps://www.fishlore.com/Profiles_Lionfish.htm) and a Google search said 120 gallons.

Our house is small so we don't want to over do it, but it's important for there to be enough water that we can't too easily mess up.

I'm also curious how much room 2 would need, or is that I'll advised? I saw them putting two in each tank at the LFS but they aren't full grown ones.

I definitely would not go 55. They are only 12” wide. At minimum I’d go 75, but the larger the better. 125 or 120 would be better.

Thank you!

Okay, right now we are looking at a 180 gallon tank which is 8 feet long, 2 feet tall, 18 inches wide. So we'd be good for the gallons, but is it wide enough?

Yes you should be fine 24” wide is better but 18” wide will do it just fine.
