Voice Chat

I do a lot of voip (Voice Over Internet Protocall) chatting when I'm online playing my games and have been thinking about renting a server so I don't have to deal with everyone elses balonga while I'm trying to work with my clan members. It's pretty resonable, and I have a lot of fun with it. Since I was thinking about it any way, and I just found this lovely site and all you wonderfull people, I was wondering if I did rent a server and put in a dedicated room (or rooms) for the use of the Fishloreans, would any one use it? and since we have members from all over the world, would anyone else be willing to help with admin duties? I thought it might be helpful in instances where someone had a sick fish and needed more immediate help than the forums can provide.

It's basicly just chat with a mike. I use Team Speak. A lot of people use it for gaming since you only need one ket at the most, but you can type in it if you want. I've also used gsc which is a bit better for those without a mike.

Never used skype. Basicaly you plug in your mike, log in to the chat server, go to the room you want to be in, and press the talk key (default is ~ for both teamspeak and gsc) and say what you want to.

You can do this through MSN, Yahoo and a couple of other IM's but it won't be part of FishLore. This and a chatroom have been discussed before and mike prefers not to do this.
If you do a search on chatroom you can see the whole discussion

Thanks for the heads-up butterfly. I didn't realize that the idea had already been talked to death and voted down. I did a search and looked at a lot of the threads related to this, I hadn't thought of a lot of the points that were made, so at this point I'll just say that if I do wind up getting a voice chat server I'm gonna leave space for my fellow fishloreans, but I'll leave it as "contact me and I'll get you set up, but it's entirely up to you if you want to use it or not", and no blame for not wanting an increase in the mod's workload, I'm sure you guys are busy, busy, busy, but you do a wonderfull job in spite of it all!

My husband VOIP when playing game tournaments, also talks to his brother who lives in another state this way (No long distance bill )
Our son uses this when playing games also so I knew what you were talking about
