visitherm stealth questions

hey guys I need a new heater for roscoe's tank, I got a couple of ?'s about the stealth and visitherm deluxe
1) Should I get a 25 watt or a 50 watt?
-its getting pretty cold here, and the 50w tetra whisper submersible I have now isn't doing the greatest job

2) Should I get the visitherm deluxe or visitherm stealth?

3) Are the 25w and 50w versions of these heaters adjustable...or do they set themselves?

thanks for your help!x

The stealth is probably a better choice for a small tank, and the 50w should be fine. DFS has both the 25w and the 50w (and the 75w for that matter) all on sale for the same price right now. And while you're at it, you can pick up a nice little digital thermometer they have on sale for about $5. I have one on my 10g, and just ordered one for my new 56g because it works so darn good.

The visitherms have setting dials on top that show the actual temp the heater is set to (+/- 1 degree). So you can adjust it to any temp you like. And the digital thermometer will make getting the right setting simple.

so, you're sure the 50w was an adjustable top...only reason I ask is b/c the box on my tetra heater said it was adjustable...but it wasn't

Yes, the stealths are all adjustable. I have 3 of different sizes, including a 50w.

I use Stealths in all my tanks. (2X250W 1X200W 1X100W and 1X75W) They seem to all be pretty accurate. The tank temp is usually really close to the what is set on the dial. I bought the 200W and it outlasted every heater I had ever used and was more accurate too, so I just stuck with them. I have yet to have one fail. The 200W has been going for about 3 years and the others for 2. I had tried a few different glass heaters and none of them lasted more than a few months. I have one left that I use for my water change buckets that has been kicking for awhile but it's the one that came with the tank and I switched it out for a Stealth right off the bat so it's only been used to heat a 5 gal bucket for a few minutes a week. The only change I'd like to see is a small indicator light, just so I know for sure it works. but I guess if your product just works, you don't need a light, right?
