Very weird endler

Okay so I have a weird endler in my male tank. He's not a chili. He's not a peacock. I dunno what he is. Notice his tail is spade shaped and colored in a pattern that is not normal.

No I didn't breed him. He came to me this way. Literally called a weird endler because they couldn't figure out what in the world he was either. Lol. He has always been a bit shy since I got him. Likes hiding away from the others.

And now he looks fat! So am I loosing my mind here, or should I not be calling this a HE? I've heard of hybrid endlers producing females with color..... But not this kinda color! Ya. I'm probably grasping at straws here, but I thought I'd toss out the possibility.

No they didn't just feed.
All the others in the tank are not fat.
No he wasn't fat when I got him.
He likes to hide away from the other males like he's being pestered to much.
He does eat and doesn't seem to be sick.
I don't see any pine needling on his scales. So no dropsy.
I tried a pea. Doesn't seem to help.

Any ideas?

Here are the best 4 pics I got. Not sure how I got him to sit (errrr swim) still, but...

Looks like a male to me, but a way to be sure is when it sits still for a second look at the analfin and if it folds down, it is a female if it stays up its a male.

He looks exactly like a male chilI endler, but with a mutated tail.

So he's just a mutated fatty who likes being alone, then?

He definitely looks fat But Cichlidnut made that thread about the female he had who had color, and it was just a tiny bit of color. Females are usually just plain silver, and a lot bigger than males. I don't know why he looks fat, but I think it's a mutated-tail, male chilI

Yah I think that's where I read about the colored females. I figured this would be too much color to even be a possibility.... but I still dunno what's going on with him. I mean....other than the fact that he is goofy looking...

That's a male with what looks to be a deformed tail. ChilI strain for sure. I've got some chubby males, it's normal.

I would not breed that Endler.

He is in an all male tank. So no breeding in there
(About to start breeding snakeskins in a diff tank thou! Love those guys!)

I never saw a fat male endler before! I guess if it 'happens' then I won't worry. I saw him relieving himself today. No problems. No funny colors. So I guess he is just a pudgy odd ball he's still pretty thou.

Thanks for the intel!

Definitely a male! Looks like his tail is a little broken heart almost. Hopefully he'll live a long happy and sometimes chubby life.
