Very Odd Guppy Birth

Hello, I need some advice. This is the first time i'm breeding an albino guppy strain (i've bred normal guppy strains before). I believe this is mama's first birth. She started birthing on yesterday (30/07/21) and I thought all would come out in quick succession. She gave birth to 1 fry which was very badly deformed with and egg sac and a bent tail. I expected her to birth the rest of her fry overnight. The next morning i woke up, no change and she was still looking very boxy. By late night she had birthed 2 more fry, both of which look more normal than the first surviving one, but with remnants of an egg sac attached to their body. Currently she is looking even more boxy than before but i realised that after the birth of the 2 fry, there were a lot more eggs that were sitting at the bottom of my tank. I've attached photos for you to see. Is it safe for labour and birthing process to go beyond 24 or even 48 hours? Also, do you think she has the rest of the fry to birth or that she's done? Any advice would be good thanks.

Seems like it can stretch out sometimes. When I've actually happened to have been able to observe one birthing there's always been a few undeveloped ones or balls/eggs with eyes. I've heard of whole batches getting dumped looking like the little balls, probably due to a variety of reasons like stress or something else Momma didn't like.

Regardless there's really not much you can do other than sit back and observe & try not to add stress (which usually is from us trying to intervene when we're better off not).

Best of luck the rest of the way. If it doesn't go well this time there's always another batch coming in another month or so.

Thanks, yea. I think this batch went better than I expected it to. This morning i woke up to the rest of the fry born overnight. In total i have 18 healthy fry, 2 premature, not sure whether they will make it past the first week, and there are several stillborns/dead in the birthing tank already. I guess it could have been worse, but I'm glad I got a decent batch even if it's her first. I hope she is done so i can remove her!

20+ Sounds like a full batch, glad it worked out and I'd assume she's done now. Also if you haven't already I'd remove any of the dead ones from the tank.

There were at least 6 or 7 that didn't make it immediately after birth. I'm also getting rid of the birthing tank today.
Here are the 20.

My female guppy just passed away. Pretty bummed, i thought she was getting through it okay. She wasn't eating yesterday and this morning she's dead. Looks like no more babies.

That sucks. Birthing ordeal might have been too much for her. At least with the fry, you'll hopefully get some more females when they mature.

Eggs? At the bottom of the tank?
I assume unneeded eggs would be absorbed back, not effectively thrown away. That’s a huge source of minerals, proteins etc….

Are you sure there are eggs on the bottom of the tank and it’s not just detritus or perhaps stillborn fry? The bodies are fairly opaque and the yolk sac would most stand out.
