Versa Tops

One of my first "bigger" tanks was an Aqueon 45 gallon tall. It came with the standard hood which sits over the clear plastic top. I would like to convert this to a versa top LED setup.

It has a center brace and measures 17" from the rI'm to the center brace on each side. After scanning the internet somewhat, I do not see any that size. (I have yet to check Aqueon's site.) Does such a size exsist?

What about the 36" x 18" models? Would either of those work?

If not, you can buy your own glass from a hardware store and make your own.

It's got a center brace. 36" would be perfect if not for the brace.

Buying the glass not a bad idea. What thickness would I need?

Just looked at the links again and it says 2 pieces. If that is the case, the 36X18 would work.

It's two pieces, you can tell because they specify 2 panels. Will the width work? It's 14 3/4" without the plastic strip in back.

Well......Looks like I have to learn to read a little closer. I have approx 16 7/8" x 11" to work with. So the 36X18 will not work. Guess I'll will have to do some DYI work.

Lowe's will cut glass for you for free. Take your measurements to them, and don't forget to include a cutout for the filter and the cord for the heater.
