Versa Glass Tops

During the fish less cycle on my 20 gallon tank I have observed when running the air stones for bubbles I have noticed splash and or moisture on the tanks lid. This is not a good thing because the lid has those LED lights. I was wondering what you all use to protect the lighting from mist and or splash. So much info on this online but have not seen much real info on it beside disappointed buyers.

I looked online on many other sites and it looks like even though many sites list the versa glass tops as 24 x 12 inch in all reality according to the reviews by many consumers they do not fit as advertised. So my next question is what if I cut some plexI glass and used it as a shield for the lights? Right now I have no plans for adding real plants of any kind to the tank. And since no fish yet I can just leave the lid off. Thank You

What I use Instead of buying those expensive glass tops is window jalousies( jealousy) I went to my local Home Depot and looked for those replacement window jalousies and make sure that you take the measurements from inside the lip of the tank. I'm not sure about your tank but mines has a balance trim around it and on the inside of the trim there are these steps, where the glass sits make sure you get that measurements. If you need me to take a pictures of what I mean I can. But it has to be a little later it's only 3:21am here in Honolulu right now. I have been using those glass jalousies for over a year and a half and I've had no problems and it cost me around $6 or $7 dollars compared to $30+ for a regular glass top.

Good Luck!

I have done a lot of research and I am pretty sure the 24 x 12 versa tops won't fit my 20 gallon anyways even though many sites advertise as that it will. The inside lip yes sir is different and what you see them selling online is 99.9% incorrect as a actual fit. I can't remember the measurements I wrote them down some where will try to find them tomorrow.

Was just to busy today to deal with the tank in general. We had some bad storms here so I had the pleasure of dealing with trees that had fallen all day and clean up in the rain. Will get back to you and update the post. Appreciate u leaving feed back in regards to the post. Thank You

The measurements from the inside lip that I have to be exact on my 20 gallon tank is 23 1/4 x 11 1/2. I went ahead and just put some plexiglass on mine to protect my led's from mist and or splash for temp for now.

I am fish less cycling right now so have my air stones going wide open presently to try to help with the bacteria growth. I was surprised I figured it would bend or sag in the middle but it really didn't looks pretty good. And the hood still lays pretty good in the seam so it won't fall or slide off easy.

Was going to have some glass cut instead but to be honest the glass Lowe's had looked pretty thin so I passed on it. It is pretty sad when some plastic is made better then some glass these days lol. We don't have a home depot where I live just a Lowe's. Thank You
