    I think he is male because of the blue hues, he is very small though. I'm not sure if juvenile females ever have blue hues??     Keep in mind the fish is only 1-1.5 inches

    If you're seeing blue hues then this is most likely a male. I would wait until the fish is around 2 to 2.5 inches and check back. If the blue hues you speak of are more apparent then the fish is definitely a male.

    I can't find any information on any female venustus ever having blue so I have my fingers crossed for a male!!
