Veggies For Fishies

Hey all, I've posting like crazy since joining haha.

So, when first got our 55 gallon last year, we did feed some of our fish a cucumber at a given time. They seemed to like. The fish in the 55 gallon are:
- 3 Neon Tetras
- 3 Skirt Tetras
- 3 Guppies (all females)
- 4 Platy's
- 1 small Anglefish that isn't in a rush to grow big (phewf lol)
- 2 upside down Catfish
- 1 Clown Pleco
- 5 Ghost Shrimps
- 4 Amano Shrimp
- 2 Rock Shrimps
- 2 Black Nerite Snails.
- 3 Otos

Would cucumbers and zucchinI be safe for all of these? What other "real food" can I give these guys?
I typically have pellets, two types of flakes as a daily dinner. Once a week, we give them a frozen cube of bloodworms.

Also, do you still give them their flakes or pellets even with the veggies?

Thanks in advanced!

Cucumbers and zucchinI would be great. Do you blanch it first? A varied diet of dry, veggies, and frozen would be ideal. I would recommend some frozen brine shrimp. You do have some stocking issues, if you are interested in discussing.

I'm aware of the fish incompatibilities and group size they are in. We decided last night to keep them as is for now and as some die off (not wishing it) we'll be able to better control (unless I decide to get a mall 15 gallon for my office or something, then I'll move some over lol). Once the Angel gets bigger, I'll probably put him/her in the 130g

I boiled some water last night, then dumped the cut zucchinI in it for a few, then rinsed it cold water afterwards. Good enough?

Sounds good. The point of briefly boiling it is to make it a little softer, otherwise it may sit for a long time. If it doesn't get eaten up in 24 hours it should be removed. Definitely cool it as well, no fish wants a burning hot piece of veggie! I've done cucs, zucchinI (the best), shelled peas, carrots (more for the mystery snails), and lettuce.

I've also done sweet potato, regular potato (not as big of a hit), bell peppers (not hot), and kale in addition to what fishandle mentioned.
