Im planning to go on a 2 week vacation and was trying to figure out should I use a automatic feeder or that vacation food? I have 4 platies.

I would use a auto feeder myself, do a good cleaning on the tank right before you leave and then attach the feeder and you should be good to go.

I would not worry about feeding them. 2 weeks is not long at all - it literally takes months for fish to starve to death. Besides, there's stuff in the tank for them to snack on while you are gone.

if you feel you can trust a friend to feed them after a week then i would do that. just put the specific amount of food and what kind of food in a baggy and hide all the other food so that the person will not be able to feed them more from simpathy. but like jaysee said, they can go quite awhile without food, and there is stuff in the tank that they can eat.
