Vacation and a pico tank

Hello, people on the salty side!

I have been considering setting up a pico reef tank (3.5 gallons) with just corals (no fish or other creatures). I know it's very difficult to keep a tank so small in balance. I will normally be able to keep up on water changes, but my question is, what will happen when I go on vacation? Will I need to have someone come by every day or every other day to top off the tank? I guess I'm just wondering how long I can leave the tank unattended.

Thank you!

I would invest in an auto top off. Great lid and light timer.

Agreed, an auto top-off or someone to top-off for you would likely be required.

With my tank, I could get 3-4 days before I had to top-off (sump level would fall too much), but the smaller the tank, the bigger the evaporation impact on salinity, so you'd want to keep up with it.

Yeah I tried the friend/family auto top off. It didn't work too well. "oh you mean I was supposed to add water? "
