UV Sterilizers for a 75 gallon tank

Does anyone use UV sterilizer on their tanks? If you do, is there any one you would recommend? I want to add one for my 75 gallon tank to help keep the water cleaner and to help kill any parasites

EDIT: Would adding this inline UV sterilizer to the output of my Eheim 2217 do anything to any bacteria? It says that its rated for up to 211ghp, my eheim is rated for 264gph but I'm assuming that with the added media and stuff inside the canister, its reduced a good amount.

UV sterilizers will not kill BB. BB lives adhered to filter media. UV systems kill only free floating bacteria.

 

Most cheaper UV sterlizers will clear green water but will not kill parasites. They use substandard uv bulbs the don't have a high enough wattage rating. To kill parasites you need at least 36 watt unit that uses a good bulb which usually has to be replaced after 8000 hours use, costs in the hundreds of dollars, and has to have a water flow below 200 gph.

What about this one? The guy from my LFS has one rated at 9w for sale at $65. Would that help me out at all?

I would do research on it to see what other people think of it. I don't have any experience with that particular model.

low gph through the uv will kill parasites
