HI all

Looks like having a UV steriliser is a really good thing to have for the health of your fish...and maybe clarity if water? Not sure.

I don't want to spend too much to be honest, maybe £50?

Have you some good experiences with any in particular? Thanks

I bought Sunsun (poor) and Green Machine small and large units (both excellent) for clearing green water.

My system had to be positioned near a window which resulted in sunlight lighting the aquarium in the morning hence the green water.

Once my system was matured and nutrient levels dropped I found it was no longer needed and the sunlight provides a great benefit, lighting up my Neon Tetras spectacularly and assisting good plant growth.

I would doubt there are many health benefits other than this. Many microbes live on surfaces not in the water column and would have to pass through the unit to be zapped by the UV rays. Unless I'm missing something?

I would not think a UV steriliser is essential equipment.
