I was wondering if I can use hot glue to attach weeping moss to wood. I don't have any experience with live plants and any tips or advice is very appreciated.
Thanks!

Hiya
i have alot of experience with hot glue in projects most of my hot glue packs say harmful if swallowed so i would guess that hot glue Could contaminate the water and kill the fish i would go with some fish safe glue i have heard rumours about gel super glue but im not 100% sure on that one
hope it helps!

You can use the gel version of super glue and it's completely fish safe for attaching plants etc. Just make sure it's specifically the gel version and not the others!

Thanks for the responses. I will definitely consider the gel glue.

It works well! Just make sure it has a chance to dry, also it will sort of turn white underwater, so i wouldn't spread it everywhere, just in the spots you need it the most.

Gel superglue and cotton thread both work well. Where are you getting the weeping moss? It's quite rare and some sellers sell other mosses as weeping moss.

I am buying from Angelfins.ca.

Use gel superglue, it cures once it touches water and is reef safe (many coral keepers use it to secure frags to the plugs, it is faster and easier than other methods of attachment). Over time the plant will grow and cover the white spot the superglue shows up as.
Make sure to shake the superglue gel prior to first use.

Dab a dot of it where you are wanting to put the moss, give it a few seconds then push the moss gently into the gel. Do this wherever you are wanting the moss secured too. (Make sure to wipe off excess moisture on the wood otherwise the gel won't stick like it needs too.)

Hot glue will kill any plants it touches due to the heat. It also will come off much easier underwater as it tightens structure underwater making it pop out of place easily.

Seems reputable, but keep an eye on it! Weeping moss may also take a while to really weep or may not weep at all.

How would I attach the moss with cotton thread?

You wrap the wood and moss in cotton thread, over time the thread will break down (hopefully after the moss attaches), but you will need to remove every piece of it because some fish are dumb enough to try and eat it (the thread bits), similar to fishing line but without it cutting into the growing plant (which happens with anubias most often). This will be more time intensive.
