Using Aglaonema House Plants

Hello FL...

If you're needing a house plant to reduce the nitrates in your aquarium water, then look no further than the Chinese evergreen. It's a great looking aquarium plant too. I can explain the process of preparing the plant for life in the water. You can even set up a tank using this plant that requires no water changes, ever.

Woah that's an awfully expensive plant from what I see . Please do post your process on conversion though.

Water changes aren't just necessary to reduce nitrate. They're also necessary to replenish used minerals and other nutrients.

Hello Tera...

The Evergreens aren't expensive. I picked up a large pot at the local Lowe's for about $15.00. Much less expensive than the media you buy for your tank filter. The plant works much better at filtering forms of nitrogen and for a much longer time than standard filter media.

Hello Ponz...

Actually, to keep aquarium fish healthy you need to do just two things: Feed the fish a balanced diet to maintain healthy mineral levels and remove ammonia and nitrite from the dissolved fish waste material. I have several tanks that haven't had the water changed in a very long time. The fish reproduce normally and live in near pure water conditions.
