Urgent: Anyone in UK know if pets@home take fish donations?

HI everyone. Was wondering if any fellow brits had any experience/understanding of pets@home accepting fish donations?

My tank is overstocked and I really need to rehome some fish asap. I don't know any other fish keepers and have tried Gumtree with no luck so far.

Please can someone offer some insight?

Try this Facebook group. It's a UK based group where people primarily sell tropical fishes. Maybe someone might be interested to buy them.

Our local pets at home won't take fish in simply because they have no spare quarantine tanks. Ive successfully rehomed many via gumtree and facebook. Otherwise aquatic centres (we have notcutts/swallows etc) may well take them off ur hands

Hey there! I'm from the UK too and although pets at home are good for some things like food and tanks, the fish care isn't great because they are a chain store meaning they buy in bulk and sell quickly. They don't take very good care of fish and although obliged to take animal donations, some of them never even make it to the tanks because if one tiny thing is seen wrong with them, they are 'humanely' disposed of, or put into quarantine and neglected. Try seeing if any other LFS are near you as private shops tend to be more caring of their stock.

PS - my cousin works at pets at home and has seen donated fish and animals be put down or killed almost immediately after being taken in at P@H.

In the north east the only other place I can think of is Dobbies which is a garden centre with an aquatics section. However I've seen people walk in to that store and leave with tons of fish like some people will leave with 5+ goldfish which you see often so I also don't think the welfare of their animals is great either.

If there's a Maidenhead near you they'll take fish donations, see if they have a local store here

Maidenhead takes donations . I already asked. They said to me to give them a call before if I want to bring fish so they make sure they have a tank prepared.
Also The World of Water employee told me they take fish of certain size .

Do they ask you to bring a water sample in? Or are they just happy to take the fish?

They did not mention any water testing.
Let me know how you got on with your donations

Rang them up at the weekend and spoke to them, they said they were happy for me to bring the fish in the next day with no hassles.
