HI I plan on purchasing a 55 Gallon Marineland kit tomorrow (hopefully)!
1) It would replace my 29 gallon
2) I have a marineland 350b So I would just use the media from my filter in the new tank. How long would it take for me to be able to add fish?
3) I would like to do a sand substrate what's the cheapest way to do it?
4) Is the led strong enough to grow live plants, If yes which ones?
5) What can I add to a 55?
I currently have
1-Red Tailed Shark
9-Tiger Barbs
6-Serpae Tetras
Thanks Isac

HI

I haven't used this kit before. But if you transfer your media you should be ready to add fish.
If using sand people tend to recommend pool filter sand because it's much cheaper than aquarium sand, and is basically the same thing. I don't know about the lights on that tank but I'm guessing that they will only be really good for low light plants.

What Finnsfish said.
You could move the current filter over and run it with the new one for a few weeks (or permanently. filtration is good!). I would add a few fish at a time every couple weeks after testing your water. Are you looking for something else to add or just to up the schools of your current fish? Personally, I would just up the schools and maybe add cory cats as bottom feeders.
Also, I have pool filter sand and love it. Cheap, easy to clean and my cories are happy.

HI I bought quickrete play sand and would definitely recommend it! I put 50lbs in a 5 gallon home depot bucket. I stuck a hose in and let the water run for about 45 minutes (moving the hose around occasionally). I added it to my empty tank, filled with water and NO CLOUDING AT ALL!!! Tomorrow I will transfer my filter to assist the new one and will move the fish a hour later, Sounds good? What fish can I add to the tank now besides from increasing schools? I like big colorful fish Thanks Isac

I like Black Diamond sand blasting sand. It costs me $7.99 for 50 pounds from the local tractor supply company. I think it is the cheapest option out there for sand! But it only works if you are interested in black sand. Which I was!!

Edit: never mind. I see that you already made your sand choice!
