Upgrading From 36 To 75. Should I Post Progress Updates?

HI everyone,

I'm wondering if you would be interested in me posting progress updates on my 36 to 75 upgrade.
I'm going to create a 75 gal. blacked out aquascape and am hoping for a result similar to this.

Here's the 36 I will be tearing down:

36 gal..jpg
And here's the 75 (will be moved to where the 36 is):

75 gal..jpg
I'm going to keep my current stock other than the MTS's as the population is too hard to control.
I will be adding more small compatible fish and up my current schooling stock.

Please comment if you are interested and we can go through this process every step of the way.
Will be starting in a few days.

I'm super excited to get this process started!

Oh and btw, here's the substrate I'll be using (Onyx as bottom layer, Black Sand for top). Substrate depth will be about 2.5-3".

Cheers everyone!

Really, we need a thumbs down

Only if Kaepernick gets added to the roster, then I agree with the thumbs down. But only for him, not the rest of the team lol

Haha great responses everyone! Ok, I'm definitely going to post updates on this.
I may begin the process tomorrow but if not, it will have to wait until Saturday.

Also, have a few questions for anyone that feels like answering:
1. With my current fish stock, what would you recommend if I were to get 2 or 3 "show fish"? Maybe Angel Fish? ...just not sure really.
2. With my current plant stock, what would you keep? Remove? Add? No CO2 (just flourish, excel, root tabs) so we're looking at low tech & medium lighting (for now).
3. What canister filter would you recommend for a 75? I will start with an AC 30 & 70 HOB at first as they're both full of BB, then I'll buy a canister and get it cycling.

Thanks!

Congratulations on the new tank! Everybody loves watching a tank get set up Post as much updates as you can Why not keep the 36 and have two tanks?
I thought about it but I'm just more interested in focusing my time into 1 tank. I also only have 1 great place to put a tank and the 75 is going to fill that spot nicely.

Really, we need a thumbs down

Sea-HAWKS!
Agreed! I just don't see how he can add anything positive to the team. To much drama surrounding him.

I use 2 sunsun 304b on my 75 and love them... have since added them to my 40b and 38 bowfront....

Funny, I had a ten, then the 38bow, broke it down mostly (had some extra plants in there, but all stock moved to 75).... ended up keeping both... why not

Yup that sounds familiar lol. I already have a friend that wants the 36 so can't go back now. Committed to the 75!

It Begins!!!
- Fish have been transferred to 10 gal.
- 36 gal has been 90% drained and now removing trumpet snails.
Once that's done, will drain completely and move tank and stand to another location and move 75 gallon to its new home!
Also, think I can leave the 35-40 lbs of sand in my 36 gal when moving it? How much weight can the bottom glass take?

Good luck.
I just upgraded from a 30 to a 75.
Not quite show how much weight the bottom glass can take
Maybe couple hundred pounds.
Here's my 75G(I still have to work on it)

You're off to a good start, congrats!

I moved the 36 with about 20 lbs of water and 20 lbs of sand and it was perfectly fine.

36 is moved.
Time to move the 75 into position!

Can't wait to not have snails in my tank!
Going to remove them later on though when I dismantle the tank for the last time.

I'd be careful with the snails. If you're going to be using the same filter from the 36g, you might have some babies or eggs in the actual filter that can hatch and start another population in the 75g.

Well I ran out of time this weekend but at least the old tank and stand have been moved and fish have been transferred back.
This week will be cleaning, positioning & levelling the new tank. Then mapping the scape.
